The history of the city of Peixe, located in the southern region of Tocantins, is full of hidden treasures to be discovered by tourists. The influence of the colonizers in search of gold left customs, legends and remarkable traditions in the city. Legend has it that a flood of Tocantins rreached a large lake 2 km from the village. When the water receded, an enormous fish was trapped in the lake. It is because of this fish that the city received its name. However, despite local legends and historical curiosities, what really attracts tourist to Peixe is its gorgeous beaches, on the banks of the Tocantins River.
